A pool enclosure permit is required from the Chief Building Official prior to the placement/installation of an outdoor pool. The intention of a pool enclosure is to provide and maintain an enclosure to the pool for the safety of all persons.
Applying for a pool enclosure permit
You do not need a permit to install an outdoor pool, however in accordance with By-Law 29-2008, a pool enclosure permit is required.
We will require the following when submitting for a pool enclosure permit;
- Pool enclosure permit application form.
- 2 sets of plans showing the location of the pool, location of the proposed fence/enclosure/gate(s), setbacks to property lines, buildings (including decks and shed), septic system (if applicable).
- Complete details of the proposed pool enclosure, including details on the type of proposed fence and gate
- The cost of a pool enclosure permit for privately owned outdoor pools is $150.00.
