In 1865 Mr. Sweetman, a Post Office Inspector at the time, suggested the community be named Elsinore after some members of the Royal Family visited the historic site of Elsinore, an important transport point in Denmark during WWII.
Today, the Elsinore Community Centre is host to a number of community activities and is available for rent for family reunions and social gatherings.
