The Town regulates and licenses dog kennels within the town. For more information on Kennel Licences, please contact the Town offices at 519-534-1400 ext. 122. Section 9 of the dog by-law lists the rules for kennels.
Fees for kennels
Hobby Kennel (up to 10 dogs) $100.00
Breeding Kennel (up to 10 dogs) $175.00
Commercial Kennel (up to 40 dogs) $325.00
Commercial Kennel (additional dogs over 40) $40.00 per dog
Kennel License Surcharge $125.00
Kennel regulations
No person shall operate a kennel in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula unless it meets the dog by-law, other municipal by-laws and any other regulation including the Zoning By-Law, the Building Code Act, the Fire Prevention and Protection Act and Regulations and other laws that may apply.
Any kennel licence may be refused or suspended by an Animal Control Officer if, in the Officer’s opinion, the kennel does not comply with the dog by-law. The owner must then remove such dogs as soon as is possible but in any case no longer than thirty (30) days after notice has been provided either in person or by registered mail.
All kennels shall maintain dogs in a clean, secure, and humane manner and every owner and operator of a kennel shall ensure that the kennel complies with the standards contained in the dog by-law.
