An emergency is defined in the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, R.S.O.1990 (as amended) as “a situation or an impending situation that constitutes a danger of major proportions that could result in serious harm to persons or substantial damage to property and that is caused by the forces of nature, a disease or other health risk, an accident or an act whether intentional or otherwise”.
Be Prepared Grey Bruce Huron |
With our close proximity to Lake Huron and Georgian Bay there is the possibility of severe summer and winter storms. Also, being home to Bruce Power does require certain emergency preparedness measures be met, in the highly unlikely situation of a nuclear emergency. Be Prepared Grey Bruce Huron is an educational resource for the different types of emergencies we should all be prepared for, to ensure the safety of our families. |
Emergency Kit |
In an emergency, you will need some basic supplies. You may need to get by without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours. For information on how to prepare a family emergency kit visit the Government of Canada - Get Prepared |
