UPDATE - March 7, 2025 at 4:15 pm
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has declared the Significant Weather Event has ended. Caution should still be observed as regular maintenance activities are still occurring to return the road and sidewalk conditions to a state of repair.
Most roads have reopened except Shoreline Avenue from Spry Lake Rd north to the end - this closure has been updated to "Local Traffic Only". The water level has decreased to approximately 6 inches deep. Drive with caution at your own discretion based on the water depth.
Curbside garbage collection was partially completed on Thursday, but the collection trucks were not able to collect from all roads due to weather conditions. If you did not receive garbage collection on Thursday, March 6th, please hold onto your garbage and place it out for collection next Thursday, March 13th, where you will be permitted to place two untagged bags for collection.

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has declared a significant weather event on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 3:30pm due to forecasted or observed weather conditions.
South Bruce Peninsula wishes to note that the declaration of a significant weather event is not notice of a reduced level of service or a road closure. The declaration is to notify the public that due to the current or forecasted conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling on municipal roads and sidewalks and that it may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the roads and sidewalks back to a state of repair.
Some areas of our municipality are receiving high winds in addition to snow accumulation, leading to reduced visibility and drifting. The flash freeze overnight also has contributed to undesirable driving conditions. For your safety, please consider delaying any travel plans until the weather conditions improve.
Staff are also responding to localized flooding issues in multiple areas in the Town. The snow melt mixed with heavy precipitation over the last few days have overwhelmed waterways, causing them to run over some roadways.
For the safety of our residents and staff, the Town has had to close the following roads:
- Lakeshore Blvd S from Main Street south to the end (drifting and visibility concerns)
- Lakeshore Blvd N from Main Street north to Sauble Falls Rd (drifting and visibility concerns)
- Sauble Falls Rd from Lakeshore Blvd N west to the end at Grove’s Point (drifting and visibility concerns)
- Shoreline Ave from Spry Lake Rd north to the end (flooding)
Curbside garbage collection has also been affected by the weather and flash freeze conditions today. Waste Management is currently in the area and has been collecting all day, but there are some roads that they will not be able to collect from due to the conditions. If you do not receive garbage collection today, please hold onto your garbage and place it out for collection next Thursday, March 13th where you will be permitted to place two untagged bags for collection.
