Proposed quarry (arsenault) Lot 6 Concession 25

Darren Arsenault has applied to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) for a Class A Category 2  quarry on Lot 6 Concession 25 (399 Highway 6). 

Council has considered the application and has made comments to the applicant and the MNRF.  The correspondence sent is below.

Development Charges

The Town  implemented Development Charges.  A background study was undertaken for the areas of Wiarton and property in an area known as "South Wiarton".  The Development Charges do not apply to other areas of the Town.  An appeal to the OMB has been made.  Development Charges will be charged in the affected area pending the outcome at the OMB.

Town of South Bruce Peninsula Application for the Protection of Bryant Street, Huron Road, Daddy Weir Road and Part of Howdenvale Road

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula filed an application with the County of Bruce to amend the Bruce County Official Plan to change the designation of the "West Road" in South Bruce Peninsula from Urban Collector and Rural Collector to Local Road.

The "West Road" includes Bryant Street, Huron Road, Daddy Weir Road and part of Howdenvale Road

October 20, 2015 Update - Bruce County Council refused the application and Council will not be making an appeal to the OMB.  Council is requesting that Bruce County return the "West Road" to the municipality so that it can be added back to the municipal road system.  Council awaits the County decision. 

July 2016 Update - Bruce County has denied the Town's request to add the "West Road" back into the municipal road network.  The County is proceeding through the EA process with respect to upgrades proposed for the road.

August 2017 Update - Bruce County will appear before Council as a delegation on September 5, 2017 to provide an update on the "West Road" project.  Bruce County will hold a public information session on August 30, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Wiarton Arena.  The presentation to Northern Bruce Peninsula Council can be viewed here.
